A gadget for on the road

A while back I started to notice I am using my phone for more and more tasks than just calling and texting. I'm actually my phone to write this, while this works fine for a short time, after about 5 minutes the small screen and buttons start to annoy me. So I thought I would be about the time to either get a new bigger phone, or maybe a new gadget like a tablet, as I will use this at work most of the time. I don't wanna be dragging around a heavy bulky laptop, I want something small and lightweight.
As far as the phone goes, there's really only one option. and that would be the Samsung galaxy note its a tablet/phone combination experiment by Samsung.
While I'm not gonna overload you guys with specs I do wanna point out how huge this thing is to be a phone. Compared to the 3.2" screen of my current phone, the HTC legend, the 5.3" screen of the note would be a huge improvement. not even to mention all the other specs that are much much better than my current HTC.
So that was pretty much the only phone that would qualify. This is by far the biggest phone that's being produced as we speak.
Moving on to the tablets
A tablet would be a nice alternative to the phone, big screen, not too heavy and so on. In comparison to my phone its pretty much the same story as with the galaxy note: everything is an upgrade!
The two tablets that grabbed my attention are the Samsung tab's and the iPads both of those seem like awesome devices. and I know that now would not be the best time to buy an iPad as the 3rd gen should be introduced somewhat soon.
To the people who own any of the devices, let me know what u think about it, and to the other peeps let Mr know what you think is the way to go and most importantly WHY?

  1. Only one I've ever used is the Galaxy II. If the buttons annoy, go with something bigger, as any phone will still annoy.

  2. I'd advise looking in sales papers for a droid tablet on sale. There's more competition versus the iPad so you can find a decent one on clearance some times. Most stores also have a demo to try to make you'll like it.

  3. I'm a huge Mac fan. I tried to fight it...but I think that the iphone is going to be my next big purchase.

I would go w/ the ipad. It may be more expensive, but apple is a great company.

I have a droid phone, and I HATE it.

  4. I have been a pc person my whole life but recently changed to mac with a macbook pro, and an iphone from my droid. I have to say that Apple products are just simpliar and all together and great! But if you want more individual things and custom things PC's are better. Personally I love my mac and wouldnt want anything different, but as far as my iphine, there are a lot of things I miss from my Droid.
So i think if you want just the upgraded phone than the Samsung Galazy is great! I know people that have it and it has things far superior to the iphone. I think the buttons are something that just take time to get used to, it did for me and now is just normal.
As far as ipads go, I think they are awesome. My mom has one and I love playing with it and everything. Yes they are small so portable but at the same time not really. You are not going to be carrying it around with you 24/7 like you would your phone. So not as convenient as the phone would be.

  5. I mostly use my phone for web browsing while I'm en route. Right now I can't see myself shelling out for a tablet when I can just use my phone.

    1. Are the apps on the tabs that bad then?

  11. I agree, writing on phones gets annoying fast but tablets aren't too bad from my limited experience. Waiting to see how the iPad 3 turns out and if its worth it.

  13. I wanted to buy an iphone, for internet surfing, and to check my artblog, emails ect. But i settled for a cheap one that is just for calls really, spent the money on my (now ex) girlfriend instead.I enjoyed spending the money more than i would have the phone i think.I wouldn't mind getting a kindle, especially if they have one that i can surf as well.
